Carson City Symphony was founded in 1984 as the Carson City Chamber Orchestra and gave its first concert in October that year. It is a community orchestra open to amateur and volunteer professional musicians. Members come from all walks of life and have ranged from elementary school students to senior citizens. The Symphony performs five or more concerts each year for audiences in Carson City. It also has performed in Minden, Gardnerville, Fallon, South Lake Tahoe, and Virginia City. We play many works by contemporary composers and have commissioned and premiered several pieces.

Some background on the project

Description
The goal of this project is to produce a virtual video recording of the Carson Chamber Singers performing music by Claudio Monteverdi and Elaine Hagenberg. Spread the word- this is GREAT music, and I would love to have even more singers join the virtual choir.

To explain the concept, the pieces are both centered around G (mixolydian, minor & major) and have texts that have many connections. We will begin with the Monteverdi and then move right into the Hagenberg. The Monteverdi madrigal is in Italian and is quite a bit more challenging than the Hagenberg which is very simple. The madrigal also sounds best with smaller numbers, so it is up to you if you would like to do both pieces or just the Hagenberg. If you are ready for the challenge the madrigal presents, I'd love to hear your video for it. I'm hoping to take 10-12 singers for that piece.

The Hagenberg will require no more than two rehearsals, but a third and fourth rehearsal will be necessary for the Monteverdi.
