"Strings in the Schools"

2007-08

Our exciting after-school program provides beginning violin lessons for students grades 2-5 and ensemble/orchestra experience for string students of all ages in Carson City.  Tuition and books are subsidized by the Carson City Symphony Association.  The instructor is Sue Kitts.  Enrollment is limited.  Classes start the first week of school.  Some scholarships are available for instruments.

Beginning Violin Lessons - Grades 2-5

Students may attend one or both sessions:

Mondays, after school until 4:15pm

Seeliger Elementary School

                  2800 S. Saliman Rd.

 

Wednesdays, after school until 4:15pm

(1:30 – 2:45 on Early Release Days)

                  Empire Elementary School

                  1260 Monte Rosa Dr.

                 

Pre-Orchestra Violin Ensemble

For the student who has successfully completed beginning violin

Mondays,  4:15 to 5:00

(please arrive at 4:00pm for tuning)

at Seeliger Elementary School

Youth Orchestras

For all string students who have had previous experience on

violin, viola, cello, bass, or harp

Thursdays, after school until 4:15pm.  (High School and Middle School students and adult mentors should arrive at 3pm.)

 

Optional supplemental orchestra session, 4:15-5:00, includes strolling, fiddle, and jazz.

"Strings in the Schools" is funded by the CC Symphony Assoc.; grants from the Nevada Arts Council, a stage agency, the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency; the Sierra Philharmonic League; Carson City Music Club; and private donations.
