Strings in the Summer 2008

A Program for String Players of All Ages

[ Monday: Introduction to Fiddle and Folk Music

Designed primarily for younger students, and for violinists and violists of any age who have limited experience.  Must be able to play a one-octave D scale and read notes within the staff. 

         Dates: June 16,  June 23,  July 7, July 14,  July 21, and July 28

         Time: 8:30am to 10:00am.

[ Wednesday: FiddlinÕ Fun - Melodies, Harmonies, and Improvisations

         For advanced beginner to intermediate violinists and violists.

         More complex tunes and rhythms, 2- and 4-part harmonies, etc.

         Dates: June 18, June 25, July 9, July 16, July 23, July 30

         Time: 8:30am to 10:00am.

[ Thursday: String Ensemble

For advanced beginner to intermediate players.

Fun tunes for orchestra.  Arrangements for violin, viola, cello, and bass.

         Dates: June 19, June 26,  July 10, July 17, July 24, July 31

         Time: 8:30am to 10:00am.

Location:  ChildrenÕs Museum of Northern Nevada, 813 N Carson St.

Instructor: Sue Kitts

Cost: FREE!     Space is limited.  Priority will be given to current "Strings in the Schools" students and Carson City Symphony Assoc. members.

Each class will feature at least one new tune. Come and learn them all!

CONCERT: Wed., Aug. 6, 10 a.m., at Carson Mall. Free and open to the public!
